David Thomson was a governor at our school for 25 years. He was a great friend to many governors, staff members, pupils and their parents.
David cared deeply about our school. He used to spend a lot of time in our classrooms, looking at our work and chatting to us. He helped us to become a very successful school and a great place to learn and to work.
We really miss David since his passing - that is why we have the Thomson Team and the Thomson Trophy - so that we will always remember him and that those children who didn’t know him will learn about what made him a special person.
The Thomson Team are chosen by school staff and meet with Mrs Rennie regularly to discuss how we can improve aspects of the school as well as discussing fund raising events and our annual David Thomson Memorial Day. Minutes of their meetings are then shared with Mr Brown, our Headteacher and our Board of Governors.
We also opened a garden in his memory called the Thomson Garden. We had a special opening where we invited his family- the choir sang and people who knew him made speeches. It was a lovely occasion in memory of David.
